Privacy Policy

Scroll The Quran is built to be read, not to read you. You never create an account, and everything you write or save stays on your device. From version 1.1.3 the app does measure which adverts bring readers to it, and this page says exactly how — in plain language, including the parts that changed.

What stays on your device

Your saved ayahs, personal notes, reading streak, reading progress, language and display preferences, and reminder settings live only on your device. We have no server that stores a profile of you, and we cannot see any of it.

Advertising measurement

The app contains no advertisements. It does, however, carry Meta's software so we can tell which of our own adverts on Facebook and Instagram led someone to install it — without that, we cannot tell a campaign that works from one that wastes money.

Meta receives that the app was opened, that onboarding was completed and that the subscription screen was shown, along with an app-generated identifier and standard device information such as your device model and iOS version. Apple's own SKAdNetwork also reports campaign performance to Meta in aggregate, without identifying anyone.

The advertising identifier (IDFA) is a separate matter, and iOS asks you directly. The first time you reach an ayah, the system shows a panel asking whether the app may track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. If you decline, the identifier is never read, and you can change your answer at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Declining costs you nothing in the app: everything works exactly the same.

Product analytics

We use PostHog to see where people get stuck — which onboarding question loses them, whether the subscription screen was opened or dismissed. It records the events the app reports, a randomly generated identifier for the installation, and your app version, device type and iOS version.

It is not tied to your name, email or Apple Account, and it never records what you read, what you save, or anything you type in a note. PostHog also delivers the switches that let us turn a broken feature off without shipping an update, and it receives a report when the app hits an error so we can fix it.

Deep Study requests

When you open a deep study on an ayah, the app sends the surah and ayah number, your chosen language, and the ayah text to our study service so a response can be generated (powered by Claude). These requests are not linked to your identity — no account, no location. Technical logs kept to run the service expire within a day.

Subscriptions

Purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. To check whether a subscription is active, the app uses a purchase-state service (RevenueCat) keyed to a random identifier — not to your name, email or Apple Account.

So that a subscription can be credited to the advert that produced it, RevenueCat also receives device identifiers and the anonymous installation identifier generated by Meta's software. If you declined tracking, no advertising identifier is included and the subscription simply arrives unattributed.

Notifications

Daily reminders are generated and scheduled locally on your device. Nothing about your reading is transmitted anywhere to make them work.

What we never do

We do not sell or share your personal data. We do not show advertisements inside the app. We do not read, upload or analyse your notes, your saved ayahs or your reading history. There is no account, so there is no profile of you to hand to anyone.

Your choices

Decline tracking when iOS asks, or change it later in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Turn reminders off in the app's own Settings. Deleting the app removes everything stored on your device. To ask what we hold or to have something removed, write to the address below.

This website

Separately from the app, scrollthequran.com counts page views using Vercel Web Analytics. It stores no cookies and builds no advertising profile. What it records is aggregate: which page was opened, the site you arrived from, country, browser and device type. To count returning visits within a single day it uses a temporary anonymous identifier that is regenerated daily — it is never tied to your identity and never follows you to other websites.

Children

The app is appropriate for all ages and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will change with it.
